Originally used to add color and simple decoration to humble earthenware vessels, splatterware - or schizzato  - of the Salento region of Italy remains an important part of Puglia's craft traditions. Follow the maze of streets in any Puglian village, and you're sure to come across all manner of splatterware in all manner of colors, but the workshops of Grottaglie, known as the ceramics capital of Italy, produce the most beautiful shapes and colors. We are happy to bring a collection of Apulian splatterware to Reed Smythe all the way from Grottaglie, where we made many friends on a recent visit to Puglia.
